The House Band played AERA's 2005 reception at the McGill Faculty Club. It just happened to be the drummer's 50th birthday. Luckily the waiter had substituted his vodka for water. A good time was had by all. The House Band in post-gig stupor. We are admiring the drummer's tattoo. It is of a Leunig character, Mr Curly, flying a paper plane. It signifies the "quiet revolutionary" spirit of the drummer, who is hardly ever revolting.

A red 335 and a gig! Who could ask for more? Being played with the house band in Montreal '05. Enigmatic Juan. Linguist, philosopher, and damned fine keyboard player. Caught at a rare moment sitting still.

Rick, Sue, and Jen, stage right.

Rare to see a Dean "aboard an ostrich": "We passed an Ostrich ranch somewhere in Africa", Bob explained. "Suddenly we were swept up in a tour that was just reaching the very pitch of excitement", enthused Bob. "The rancher-guide asked for a volunteer to act as a jockey. Before I knew it, everyone else had taken two steps backwards ... Anyway, it is a serious challenge to stay on -- and the bird is really fast!" (apologies to UW Media)
